Turtles on Tuesday-Painted Turtles

“Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.”

Mammals on Monday-Two From the Weekend

I had a lovely birding weekend. On Saturday Bosque Bill and I went to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. It was a beautiful day, and we had a lovely time there. On Sunday I went up to Sandia Crest to watch the Rosy Finch banding. Although I went to both places to see the birds, I saw some cute little mammals as well.

This little Desert Cottontail was drinking from a water feature near the Visitor’s Center at Bosque del Apache.

At Sandia Crest, the Abert’s Squirrels were busily stealing the Rosy Finch food.
