Summer Butterflies

Many of my favorite birding spots have been closed this summer because of fire, and summer is not the best time of year for birding in this part of New Mexico. During the birding doldrums I’ve been taking photos of butterflies. Here are a few of them:

I am anxious to get back to photographing birds; however, butterflies are beautiful subjects.

  1. Butterflies are indeed some beautiful specimens. Up here in Massachusetts, where I live, there is a butterfly conservatory that I like to take my daughter to. The range of colors, shapes and sizes that butterflies comes in is just amazing. With all that said, however, I still hate bugs, LoL. Regardless, these are some great photos!

  6. Thanks Lisa, Cindy and Kerri. It’s been pretty slow for birding lately, but I’ve been having great fun with the butterflies!
